Teaching at METU

In the fall of 1968,
my dad came for a short visit. He took this picture of me after I had given
my lecture

Boycott signs on
the Library building. Things went down hill after the American ambassador
came to celebrate the completion of the "White House" administration
building, January 6. Two of my Freshmen students were in on the toasting of
the ambassador's Cadillac. One was an A student and the other was an F. A
delegation of students visited me with the suggestion that the patriotic act
was worth a passing grade for the failing student. In the long run it
didn't matter.

The writing says "Genel Forum", "Demokratik Okul", and "Diren". On May 1,
1969 METU shut down and cancelled the second half of academic year.
