The new village mosque, which was still under construction when we visited in the Summer of 1999.

In the 1960's, the villagers and their cows walked to the high pastures for the summer.  Now (in 1999), they put the cows and the bedrolls and everything else they need in a truck and ride to the yayla in comfort.


The yayla closest to the village was Erikbeli, located in a mountain pass about ten miles inland.  This is a 1999 picture of one of the half dozen or so buildings comprising the small settlement there. 


If you happened to need to stay overnight at the Erikbeli yayla (in 1999), you could have checked into this hotel for about $1.50 per night.
