Arkadaslar Board Meeting
November 21, 2002

In attendance: Sandy Anderson, Pat Fesci, Marcia Gnuse, Peggy Hanson, Judy Jerald, Linda Scheffer, Dave Weinman, and Susan Bayley

The business meeting began at 7:00 PM.

Actions Taken from September 5, 2002 Meeting
TEGV: Pat reported on TEGV, a Turkish organization providing educational scholarships that ATAA had referred Arkadaslar to. Because it is such a strong organization, everyone agreed that Arkadaslar donations could probably be directed to other organizations.

Ashoka: Susan reported that she had sent a $1,000 donation to Ashoka.

NPCA Project: Susan will ask the press officer at the Turkish Embassy if the embassy might be interested in hosting the program that Oya Bain and ATAA/DC have put together on Islam and women in Turkey today. If they are, Susan will report back to the board for possible next steps.

Donations
Action: Susan and Linda will produce a 2003 budget to include the above donations, with some flexibility for unexpected donations in 2003.

Action: Susan will produce information about the five organizations to which Arkadaslar has donated funds and also about Anatolian Artisans, to be included in the membership renewal mailing that Linda will produce in 12/02.

Action: Biographies will not be posted on our web site.

Board of Directors in 2002
Action: Dave, Sandy, Linda, and Susan will meet to present a slate to the board at the 1/23/03 meeting.
