Ashoka: 
Guests included Ms. Amy Clark from Ashoka and Ms. Sheyda Taluk, the Ashoka Coordinator in Turkey.  They discussed the mission of Ashoka and the work of Ashoka in Turkey.

New Board Member:
Mary Helen Madden was elected to the Board for a term to expire in 2008. Her willingness to serve is deeply appreciated. 

Peace Corps’ 45^th Anniversary: 
The Board agreed to organize either a brunch or dinner for membership and guests as part of the 45^th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Peace Corps to be held in Washington on Saturday, September 16. 

Treasurer’s Report:   
Financial status report was presented by Linda Scheffer.  Based upon that report, the Board made the following decisions:

o    Of the projected cash balance of approximately $10,000 as of April 5, 2006, $2,000 would be set aside as a reserve for the Directory to be published at a future time; $2,000 would be set aside as a general reserve.

o    The $2,000 given to Arkadaslar from the organizers of the Portland reunion would be used exclusively for donations.

o    Donations for this year will be made as follows:

§  Sevinc Abla, $2000 (from $1,500)

§  Postsecondary Scholarships, $3,200 (thus doubling scholarships)

§  Beekeepers, $1,500 (from $750)

§  C. Erik Olson Memorial Fund, $1,000 (from $500)

§  Anatolian Artisans, $1,300 (from $425)

§  Ashoka, $2,000 (from $225).
