Yayla community of Kadirga,
located 15 to 20 kilometers inland from Cayiriçi. What looks like a
light dusting of snow around the houses is actually a carpet of tiny
daisies (papatya). The larger areas of white are unmelted snow from
the winter.

The yayla community of Kadirga is home to a unique
outdoor ("açık") mosque, which is said to be several hundred years
old. The walls keep grazing animals out of the grassy area used for
prayers.

Villagers transport their dairy cattle up to the yayla to feast
on the pasture grasses and wild flowers during the summer.
Buildings on the hill in the background are the yayla community of
Kadirga.

There are hundreds of different types of wildflowers that bloom on the
yayla. This is a small sample from Kadirga.

Kadirga: it's very common for mornings on the yayla to be bright
and clear, and then for the fog to roll in for the rest of the day.
