2007 Bayram Luncheon and Dinner Reports -- New York

We held our Bayram Luncheon October 28, 2007, at 1 pm at Turks and Frogs Restaurant, 458 Greenwich NYC (south of Canal), New York City.  Twenty-seven people attended our most successful affair.

Our group came from MA, TN, PA and NY to be here.  Basically the soiree ran from about 12:30 in the cocktail area until 4:00 when the last cup of tea was drunk.  The cocktail area served as a way to talk to a variety of people and the luncheon was a bit more confining but one could walk around while all was taking place.  We had a nice mix of regulars, RPCVs from out of state, Turkish people, offspring, and guests.

Attendees included: Ciğdem Acar, Tom and Shelley Bock, Todd Borresoff and his wife Judith Farbman, Dan Callahan and his daughter Deirdre, Katherine Campbell and Sibel, Sally Meigs Caslon, Liz Glass, Mike and Nihal Green, Jim and Elizabeth Hogan, Pat Kelley, Hank and  Elaine Levy, Ken Marion and his daughter Minta,  Bob McCord and his wife Kathy Moskal, Elaine Plenda, Janet O’Hare, Steve Poppick, and Huseyin Under.

All seemed to like the restaurant, the ambiance, and the food.  Our menu included: Harem Salad, Humus, Patlıcan Salatasıi, Lebni, Yalanci Dolma, Sigara Boreği, choice of: Tavuk Şiş, Somom Sarma, Mantı, or Mantar Sote and dessert (a mixed platter).
