Cumhurriyet Bayram Dinners  2006

Florida Arkadaslar Bayram Luncheon   Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006

Our gathering was almost “spur of the moment” in that we didn’t start communicating about getting together till mid-September.  Unfortunately by that time several of our members already had other commitments.  Fortunately, we still got a nice group together.  Lynda Ozgur kindly volunteered to make arrangements with the restaurant for a luncheon, allowing us all time to get there and home the same day. 

We met at the Bosphorus Restaurant in Winter Park, a suburb of Orlando, because it was about as centrally located a place as we could find.  There were 14 of us who came from various parts of Florida:  nine (9) Arkadaslar, two other RPCVs (wife and daughter of Paul Kirwan) and a couple of spouses who also knew Turkey.   

Attending were: Lynda Ozgur (T-6) and Burnell Hoekstra, Susan Bayley (T-4),  Hank and Jean Webb (both T-5), Paul (T-8 and Thailand-40), Magali (Thailand-40) and Cristine (Thailand-115) Kirwan, Wing and Jim Barfoot ( both T-9), Ilsa Dickinson (T-15) and daughter, Laura, and Joe and Ellie (T-15) LeBaron.

Lunch consisted of delicious yaprak dolması, mercimek çorbası, çoban salatası, karışık ızgarı and baklava.

We enjoyed meeting and talking together and the consensus was that we should definitely plan to get together again next year and try to get more of our Florida members together.
